This course has been designed by the senior course tutors & Director of Education at Make My Day Academy. It utilises over 45 combined years of working in the field & teaching.

Students learn from the very basics & essence of make up artistry, special occasion, bridal, day & evening looks through to photographic, fashion & editorial.

Tutors will teach you not just the artistic side but also the business side. We envision that every graduating student will be confident in their skills & also in their business acumen.

Course Content:

Day 1 - Natural

We will work on two main looks today, fresh, dewy make up & natural earthy tones.

• Skin types & prepping skin for make up
• Bone structure & how this affects make up application
• Contra indications to make up
• Hygienic use of make up & tools
• Detailed look at brushes & tools, how to use them
• Brow tidy/shaping
• Colour matching & observing undertones
• Using liquid foundations inc brush work
• Using foundations with a lightweight, dewy finish
• Basic eye shading
• Highlighting & lifting/brightening the complexion
• Eyeliner & mascara application for a natural look
• Using powder blush, lipliner & lipstick

Day 2 - Defined

Creating two looks to achieve a more defined & groomed appearance

• How to work with cream foundations. Using sponges
• Choosing colours to suit the client
• Creating defined eyes with eyeshadow
• Corrective eye work
• Using liquid eyeliners
• Individual lash application
• Using cream blusher & highlighters
• Corrective lip work
• Waterproof make up
• Long lasting make up. Fixing techniques

Day 3 - Dramatic

Creating two looks with dramatic use of colour & application

• Foundation to achieve flawless finish
• Creating Matte skin. Using a puff & brush
• Techniques for close up photo shoots
• Camouflage techniques - dark circles, puffy eyes, birth marks etc
• Highlighting & contouring
• Quick change
• Smokey Eye
• Using glitters
• Using eyelash curlers, manual & heated
• Working on olive, asian, black, oriental skin
• Mature skin & young skin make up
• Dramatic colours/fantasy
• Prom Make up
• Mineral make up
• Strip lashes

Day 4 - Bridal

A complete day focussing on working with brides, an important part of your business

• Designing a bridal make up
• Consultations
• Paperwork inc booking forms, confirmation etc
• Practical work
• Kit building
• Portfolio building
• Giving a make up lesson to a client
• Promoting your business
• Q & A
• Assessment
• Certificates of completion

To book this course, please select the dates you would like & e mail or telephone to check availability. Once confirmed as available, a deposit of £100 is required to secure your place. The balance is due 4 weeks prior to your course start date. You may pay by cash, cheque or paypal. Details will be sent with date confirmation on how to pay. Your course fee includes all tuition, full course notes to refer back to in the future, lunch on all dates, all products & tools needed.
